The comments make me think I played a different game. There was clearly a lot of effort put into this but the story is really predictable, the characters are shallow, and it is very slow, this is not a slow burn pace, its so much slower. There a so few actual choices to be made too. I've gone 40 minutes without making a choice. The game will go into prolonged flashbacks about the most dull character. Every single character has a "mysterious past" that you slowly get clues to over the course of 6 hours, before learning it's the exact thing you expected it to be. The chapters get much longer as you play and the story gets way more elaborate and complicated that it can handle. The protagonist is very generically kind, but turns out have a secret destiny later to show how cool and special he is. The game puts you into certain relationships by default that don't make sense and were clearly meant to be other things. You can change the relationships by changing what noun characters refer to each other's as, but it defaults to roommate and landlady, so there is this weird thing were you're raised by your landlady and having a relationship with your roommate is forbidden. You can change the nouns at any time, and you'll have to because you need to change the weird way they frame the relationships. Then later, those characters will have relationships with other characters that are weird, because if change the landlady to aunt (my closest guess for the landladys intended role), it'll start referring to another character as your aunt'sister's daughter. The erotic parts of the game are very frontloaded and seem to disappear midway through. I quit at 6 hours when they introduced like 8 more characters within 20 minutes, and that time is with me skipping a few characters stories (mostly flashbacks were you make no choices) If it takes longer than that to get good, then I have other VN I can play. The character models are really nice and I actually liked some of the earlier slice of life/drama story points with a few characters alot. But they get abandoned really quickly. I don't think first 2 love interest had and any conversations longer than one sentence after chapter 3. There is a lot of story here if that's what you're looking for, but it feels like it equates more story with good story. The thing that made me give up finally was the exponential increase in how many characters were introduced as the story went on, and the fact that the skip button didn't work reliably on my android. I don't know it was an issue with the game though. It could have been my android. Take from that what you will.
Well, I just finished my first complete playthrough of this game, on the Sky-only route, and... wow. I really see where all the praise comes from now. This game started out as a watered-down midway between Once in a Lifetime and Eternum, and ended up as the most high quality, memorable, nostalgic, and creative story I have ever seen in my 12 years of gaming. Kei might just be a better written protagonist than Orion Richards, and I love that guy so much that I have him as my profile picture. So that's saying something.
And now that I've played through the full game, I want to talk to JaredX. I have some questions for him before I start my next playthrough. I know he'll reply to this, he is a dedicated guy. More dedicated than even Tanxui is to Eternum, in my opinion.

Anyway. So, I know that this is a more complex game than Eternum. Unlike in Eternum, in order to unlock everything in My Bully is My Lover, you have to play different routes. That has been established, and I am 100% fine with that! I look forward to it! That said, there are some questions I have:
1. Am I correct in assuming that I will unlock the rest of the content (scenes and special images) if I do the other 8 solo routes, and then the harem route? Or am I gonna have to do really obscure routes like... I dunno, say like... Moon and... Aine only, or something? Or like Sky and... say, Gwen? Am I good by just doing the 9 solo routes and then the harem route, or am I gonna have to try different combinations of random characters to get what I'm looking for? I'm gonna be honest, as much as I love complexity and detail, I really hope NiiChan didn't set it up so that I'm gonna have to do this obscure stuff in order to 100% the game. That doesn't sound fun.
2. Although I'll still do it regardless, is there anything I'd get by doing a routeless playthrough?
3. What the canon route? Because depending on which route is the canon one, that's the one that I'll play last, so I have the freshest memory of the proper story. I imagine it's the harem route, because that's how most AVNs are, because nobody likes to be restricted to just one girl, lol. But, I just want to make sure, especially because Emma's route seems to be different than the others, probably because she's more special to Kei. I want to know what you say, though.
That's all the questions I have for now. I hope you can answer them, because, although I will absolutely journey through most of this game myself, because, as I said before, part of the journey is the discovery, some pointers wouldn't hurt, you know?

Id be very interested in your list. Even though its hard, i try to stick to completed VNs. Nothing bugs me more than a VN that REALLY draws me in and the creator ups and abandons it *cough evermore cough. I first noticed MBML in 2022 and I will admit more than once I was worried this one would be abandoned. And every time, just when I accepted that, Niichan threw me another update!
You know what's the mystery in Emma path? You know that ending part? Where they adopted Leah? And it turns out that she has these purple power stuff, that's why she doesn't get old. I was wondering if it has a continuation but NiiChan said that Emma route is finished... Well.. maybe Leah will show up in Sicae? Along with the yellow haired girl with the lightning tattoo on her face?, (I forgot the name) she was the security guard, the store keeper, and yeah, the private beach bartender... More mystery? That guy that Kei bumped into, the one that made him uncomfortable.
This is my first time ever commenting on a VN and I really gotta pay my respects here.
This game is the first of really many games where I did not actually care for the scenes after a while but really paid attention to the story and the plot. It is so beautifully written and gets to one's emotions with a lot of twists and additional information later on.
I regretted many choices and played it 3 times to get different endings/scenes as to not disappoint the female leads after hearing about their stories.
This is also what I really liked, the choices are before you get to know the characters and you basically decide on taking a route or not taking it before knowing the back story. This leads to conflicts and really emotional turning points later on. I was so overwhelmed by the sheer amount of emotion that some of the stories packed and was really immersed into it.
A small spoiler: I hated and loved that every character had their own prior experiences with the MC, it was really hard disappointing the girls after knowing what they had done/gone trough with the mc in the past. Gwen with him being her first love, Emma the same and with a heart breaking story on top of it that basically dictated her whole life and sky with being related.
All in all this is a 10/10 game, the scenes that are there are really well made and the story is more than remarkable, I can't mention this enough, heads off to the writers here. This will probably be my only comment on on of those games and also the only developer where I will donate some money for this experience 🫡
One of the best, definitely. I'm still unsure whether or not I think this is better than Eternum, but it's significantly more memorable and enjoyable than I thought it was even yesterday. So, who knows?
I finished it! And yeah, I saw Moon, haha. I was surprised that she was actually from this game, and not Eternum. I always thought she was just one of the trainers from Kredon's gym in Eternum, lol.
I feel your first point exactly. I made the mistake of choosing a Sky-only route for my first playthrough, as in I got absolutely zero points with the other girls. This meant I only unlocked 4 scenes, 2 of which were exactly the same, just with a minor clothing difference; and all of which were put in the beginning on the game. So I went through 90% of the game without any explicit content whatsoever, no lewd scenes, and without pursuing any other routes. And yet, despite this fact, the hours went by like nothing, and I stayed genuinely invested, without a hint of boredom or tiredness, until the end. No fatigue whatsoever.
I absolutely love Eternum, and Caribdis is an excellent developer. But what I just described is something that is only possible with My Bully is My Lover. Not even Eternum would be able to keep me playing it for 6 hours straight, without any lewd scenes whatsoever. Only this game could do that.
The same thing happened to me, there are time where I'm still up 6am in the morning and I can't wipe that smile off my face, because it's just took good.
So, I'm a little bit further into the story now, and I really gotta say, this game is really, really freaking good. For those of you who want a spoiler free summary of the quality of this game: The first 4 episodes are good, but it's completely understandable if they aren't enough to get you hooked on this game. The first 4 episodes are not bad, but they also play out as a generic AVN plot. MBiML really grows into it's own thing in episode 5. And beyond that, the story goes from kinda good to genuinely cinematic in episode 5. I legitimately started to regret choosing a Sky-only route, because of how fucking bad I felt for Emma.
If I could make a comparison, I would say that Episode 5 is to My Bully is My Lover what Chapter 6 is to Eternum. Both are very important turning points in the stories, that turn their respective games from good to cinematic.
If you have finished this current update, and still craving for more that can rival these, let me know, I'll give you some of those epic stories too.. 😉

No, not yet. I got about 3 hours into the game before I realized that, unlike Eternum, this is not a harem game. So I'm restarting, and I will do multiple playthroughs of My Bully is My Lover, where I'll have Kei pursue a new girl in each playthrough. I'm starting with Sky, and I'm ending with Emma.
I am playing this correctly though, right? In order to unlock every picture and scene, I have to do a solo route for every girl, am I correct on that? Because to my understanding, that's a big difference between Eternum and MBiML. Orion can get on every girl's path in one playthrough, but Kei cannot. Is this correct?

Actually, yeah there is, but Emma's route is the most emotional one, still you'll feel bad to chose it because of what you will read... The time will come and you will realize that Kei is a special person and... Yeah Emma is highly linked into him... However, someone's on a deeper level with Kei, trust me and play this, the plots will get you out of this world...

I've played Eternum's 0.8 last January and after that I finished this game, hell I don't know how to explain this but you'll see this game differently after going to Emma's path, or even in Harem path... This shows everyone's past story... anyway, I highly suggest to use Walkthrough so that you won't miss anything...

This is undoubtedly a masterpiece. I have benefited a lot from the communication between Aini and Hera. It has helped me grow and no longer look at myself and things from a single perspective. I'm not cruel as to just appreciate [even a part of] someone's work without being grateful to them as well. I know every VN creator has had their ups and downs to which I still show support in both cases. To this day, many have recovered and are still going strong.
Even now, I shall show no difference in NiiChan's case because I know they will be no exception in comparison to the others so I know they will recover (Sicae's continued development is enough evidence already that they are not quitters so we won't rush them).
I said "as a new fan" because I recently came across their work so I gave my opinion of a part I admired the most, like one normally would if they were the same. I haven't play for months (IDK) now since I am quite concerned if the story will end or not because I have read or play more than 5 dead game (Well in my defense I didn't know it was abandoned) with no ending in which starve and grave my imagination or Overthinking of what would be the ending in months so I wait if there's an update in the game now.

Niichan, this title was absolutely amazing. I wasnt sure about trying it but my curiosity got the better of me! so many emotions and such a well rounded storyline. Even noticed some collabs with other titles which made me chuckle!
I noticed I still have 4 locked pics in the gallery, I might need to try some other choices in another play through to unlock them. As for the characters I was half expecting Shu to end up as a love interest due to his femboy looks. Hera needs a collar and a muzzle, and if Skys a love interest, Im hoping the beautiful Klara ends up as one as well!
Dude... at the beginning of the game there's an option to ignore the 3 girls at the door (Emma, Aine and Gwen). There's even a choice whether or not you forgive Aine.
No and it would literally be stupid to take revenge on them play it and you will see why, the analogy you used is also nonsense. It would be like punishing someone for killing Nicolas Maduro, punishing someone for committing a crime or offense which greatly benefits the protagonist.
If it bothers you so much just select the option to ignore them at the beginning and that’s it.
This doesn't actually include revenge. They are upfront about that though. If your looking for something sexy though, you should also not play this game because there a hour plus gaps between sex scenes.
i still think eternum is peak fiction, just because the writing is that good, and that memorable. but this is just about as close as you can get to eternum without actually being eternum. this game is amazing!

I rarely leave comments but I really love your games. The care for detail, the writing, and worldbuilding is spot on. So much so that it blew my mind that Sicae has so much less content despite it being spoiled so much in this game. At least that is what it feels like. I just love the game . Interesting for me was that when Alex from eternum clashed, I mean there are many references of eternum and OIALT , I just love this game, I hope that there are more scenes where eternum is referenced and is actually usefull in the storyline

Something for Niichan as I get further into the story. Having experience with multiple women I can tell you with absolute certainty. Not sharing your time equally for the most part among the girls will never work out. Different personalities allow for some variation. Throwing a ring on one and treating the rest like second class relationships would cause serious heartache . That's not just my experience, that's poly 101 for anyone that actually can make it work. No matter how sub a personality may be, subconsciously it will rip them apart.
I was a total simp to this girl. I had ZERO ambition in life so I resent her. I can't say I can understand, but I don't empathize. Leaves a bad taste in my mouth but I'll keep going. Hopefully the woe is me whining is short lived.

Turned awesome as time passed. I can't reconcile the Kei near the end with the Kei in the beginning but worth it nonetheless. Usually takes a generation to develop that type of character. That being 20 years.

It’s criminal how amazing this game is….I was losing my shit seeing Eternum and Once in a lifetime references not to mention seeing a few lines out of Kevin’s song being sung.Im still in the midst of playing and man……I’m having a blast and that’s what I love about games like these, they’re well polished and have a environment worth paying attention to not to mention characters having depth to them and not just being another person in game you can sleep with(well they are but ya catch my drift); I’ll admit there were a few times Ive ALMOST shed a tear but I’m still going strong.After I’m done I’m definitely going to play Sicae can’t wait to see all the references that was made about it through MBiML.Anyway I’m just passing by for now……..

All in all this is a 10/10 game, the scenes that are there are really well made and the story is more than remarkable, I can't mention this enough, heads off to the writers here. This will probably be my only comment on on of those games and also the only developer where I will donate some money for this experience 🫡

I finished it! And yeah, I saw Moon, haha. I was surprised that she was actually from this game, and not Eternum. I always thought she was just one of the trainers from Kredon's gym in Eternum, lol.

I feel your first point exactly. I made the mistake of choosing a Sky-only route for my first playthrough, as in I got absolutely zero points with the other girls. This meant I only unlocked 4 scenes, 2 of which were exactly the same, just with a minor clothing difference; and all of which were put in the beginning on the game. So I went through 90% of the game without any explicit content whatsoever, no lewd scenes, and without pursuing any other routes. And yet, despite this fact, the hours went by like nothing, and I stayed genuinely invested, without a hint of boredom or tiredness, until the end. No fatigue whatsoever.
I absolutely love Eternum, and Caribdis is an excellent developer. But what I just described is something that is only possible with My Bully is My Lover. Not even Eternum would be able to keep me playing it for 6 hours straight, without any lewd scenes whatsoever. Only this game could do that.
The same thing happened to me, there are time where I'm still up 6am in the morning and I can't wipe that smile off my face, because it's just took good.
So, I'm a little bit further into the story now, and I really gotta say, this game is really, really freaking good. For those of you who want a spoiler free summary of the quality of this game: The first 4 episodes are good, but it's completely understandable if they aren't enough to get you hooked on this game. The first 4 episodes are not bad, but they also play out as a generic AVN plot. MBiML really grows into it's own thing in episode 5. And beyond that, the story goes from kinda good to genuinely cinematic in episode 5. I legitimately started to regret choosing a Sky-only route, because of how fucking bad I felt for Emma.
If I could make a comparison, I would say that Episode 5 is to My Bully is My Lover what Chapter 6 is to Eternum. Both are very important turning points in the stories, that turn their respective games from good to cinematic.
That's it, keep playing...

No, not yet. I got about 3 hours into the game before I realized that, unlike Eternum, this is not a harem game. So I'm restarting, and I will do multiple playthroughs of My Bully is My Lover, where I'll have Kei pursue a new girl in each playthrough. I'm starting with Sky, and I'm ending with Emma.
Oh, that explains why this isn't good enough for you yet... Keep playing and see what I mean...
I am playing this correctly though, right? In order to unlock every picture and scene, I have to do a solo route for every girl, am I correct on that? Because to my understanding, that's a big difference between Eternum and MBiML. Orion can get on every girl's path in one playthrough, but Kei cannot. Is this correct?

Actually, yeah there is, but Emma's route is the most emotional one, still you'll feel bad to chose it because of what you will read... The time will come and you will realize that Kei is a special person and... Yeah Emma is highly linked into him... However, someone's on a deeper level with Kei, trust me and play this, the plots will get you out of this world...

I've played Eternum's 0.8 last January and after that I finished this game, hell I don't know how to explain this but you'll see this game differently after going to Emma's path, or even in Harem path... This shows everyone's past story... anyway, I highly suggest to use Walkthrough so that you won't miss anything...
I'm at Gwen's reconciliation part of the story. I know you can get an Emma only route. So I was wondering if there are other solo routes you can take? Hopefully there is a Gwen only route...

This is undoubtedly a masterpiece. I have benefited a lot from the communication between Aini and Hera. It has helped me grow and no longer look at myself and things from a single perspective. Instead, I see the good and bad of things, see my own imperfections and learn to accept them. Thank you for making this excellent game for everyone. Assuming u have everyone else unlocked (ie gwen/sky harem agteement... . Scene is night before kei goes "missing" (trying not spoil anything) Sky comes over cuz u can't sleep to check in.
It's the first option in episode 4. Scene / option before was talking to moon... Freya just opened the letter. Hope this helps....

I'm not cruel as to just appreciate [even a part of] someone's work without being grateful to them as well. I know every VN creator has had their ups and downs to which I still show support in both cases. To this day, many have recovered and are still going strong.
Even now, I shall show no difference in NiiChan's case because I know they will be no exception in comparison to the others so I know they will recover (Sicae's continued development is enough evidence already that they are not quitters so we won't rush them).
I said "as a new fan" because I recently came across their work so I gave my opinion of a part I admired the most, like one normally would if they were the same. I get that there may have been the same opinions as me you may have come across (judging by the "yeah yeah, whatever" part of your comment), but at least let others give their opinions as well (same as they are) without feeling like they're selfish for not going to the Patreon page and offering sympathies before posting their opinions here, as I did.

I haven't play for months (IDK) now since I am quite concerned if the story will end or not because I have read or play more than 5 dead game (Well in my defense I didn't know it was abandoned) with no ending in which starve and grave my imagination or Overthinking of what would be the ending in months so I wait if there's an update in the game now.

Niichan, this title was absolutely amazing. I wasnt sure about trying it but my curiosity got the better of me! so many emotions and such a well rounded storyline. Even noticed some collabs with other titles which made me chuckle!
I noticed I still have 4 locked pics in the gallery, I might need to try some other choices in another play through to unlock them. As for the characters I was half expecting Shu to end up as a love interest due to his femboy looks. Hera needs a collar and a muzzle, and if Skys a love interest, Im hoping the beautiful Klara ends up as one as well!

This doesn't actually include revenge. They are upfront about that though. If your looking for something sexy though, you should also not play this game because there a hour plus gaps between sex scenes.

So much so that it blew my mind that Sicae has so much less content despite it being spoiled so much in this game. At least that is what it feels like. I just love the game . Interesting for me was that when Alex from eternum clashed, I mean there are many references of eternum and OIALT , I just love this game, I hope that there are more scenes where eternum is referenced and is actually usefull in the storyline

Something for Niichan as I get further into the story. Having experience with multiple women I can tell you with absolute certainty. Not sharing your time equally for the most part among the girls will never work out. Different personalities allow for some variation. Throwing a ring on one and treating the rest like second class relationships would cause serious heartache . That's not just my experience, that's poly 101 for anyone that actually can make it work. No matter how sub a personality may be, subconsciously it will rip them apart.
I was a total simp to this girl. I had ZERO ambition in life so I resent her. I can't say I can understand, but I don't empathize. Leaves a bad taste in my mouth but I'll keep going. Hopefully the woe is me whining is short lived.

It’s criminal how amazing this game is….I was losing my shit seeing Eternum and Once in a lifetime references not to mention seeing a few lines out of Kevin’s song being sung.Im still in the midst of playing and man……I’m having a blast and that’s what I love about games like these, they’re well polished and have a environment worth paying attention to not to mention characters having depth to them and not just being another person in game you can sleep with(well they are but ya catch my drift); I’ll admit there were a few times Ive ALMOST shed a tear but I’m still going strong.After I’m done I’m definitely going to play Sicae can’t wait to see all the references that was made about it through MBiML.Anyway
